Happy 2022!

What can I say, since we live in 'unprecedented times' (yes, I'm tired of the phrase just as much as ye are), it only makes sense that I do something as crazy as making an appearance in here. Especially that the universe clearly gives me signs that it'd love to see me taking photos again: first by making me drown my old phone and buy something new, something with a really good camera. Then, inspiring my sister to get me a polaroid for my birthday, and finally my boyfriend getting me a DSLR (Canon EOS 2000D) for Christmas. Hope I get to post some nice things in months to come.
In other news, last year I finally learned how to sew! Even had a go at pattern drafting, with mixed result. Not sure anything is DA-worthy, though, we'll see.
I don't make jewellery any more (no space, no motivation, no reason to either since I already have tons and also work from home, therefore having no good reason to doll up), so I left all DA groups related to the subject. Maybe I'll purge the pics in my gallery as well, to be seen.

Greetings, my deviant friends!
I came by to remind ye of my existence and upload itty bitty photos, mostly of gigs that I've attended in the past months. 2016 was a very metal year for me, so there will be plenty to choose from.
At first I did not want to share any of these because they weren't taken with a 'proper' camera (as opposed to a smartphone camera), but then I thought: 'sod it, they aren't that bad and it's not like I'm selling prints or aspiring to be a proper photographer.' It goes without saying that the best camera in the world is the one you have on you at all times

Przyszłam przypomnieć wam o swoim istnieniu i wrzucić parę foteczek, głównie z koncertów, na których ostatnio machałam łbem. 2016 był bardzo metalowy, więc będzie z czego wybierać.
Początkowo miałam opory, bo nie cyknęłam niczego 'prawdziwym' aparatem tylko smartfonem, a potem stwierdziłam, że czniam. Foty nie są najgorszej jakości, a poza tym nie ma obowiązku ich drukowania, budować foto portfolio też nie mam zamiaru. Wiadomix, najlepszy aparat foto to ten, który ma się zawsze przy sobie

Hope you are all keeping well. A lot has changed since my last journal. I have been travelling a bit, changed job and started dating someone new. I haven't done any jewellery in months, but I take photos every so often during my frequent trips to Northern Ireland and beyond. Hope you like them.

Just a little update.
Yes, I'm very much alive. Yes, I make jewellery, although much less than I used to, because I have very little time to spare.
I have got another full time job after all, 6 months contract in a huge bank. I got to become a manager, which had been my wish for quite some time now, so I'm glad that I can grow professionally. I am enjoying my new job a lot and learning so much that I feel as if my brain was expanding beyond my skull.
The downside is, I'm working quite hard, often overtime, still feeling overly stressed, so when it comes to developing my other interests and hobbies, I'm in a bad place to do so right now. Even if I do find time, I'm usually just too tired. I am OK with making jewellery, but taking photos of it and listing on Etsy - not so much.
I wish I could have more time to read, get my jewellery business going and still be able to make a living, but unfortunately, I'm not a Timelord. Just a plain human, who needs to sleep and eat some time, and even while being very intelligent (cut the crap with false modesty, I am very smart, seriously), still needing some time to vent and just stop thinking for a moment.
In the meantime, enjoy some photos from Madrid and Switzerland that are still lingering somewhere on my disk, waiting for editing.

Permanent vacation and other news

Hi everyone,
Lots of stuff going on lately. I have finally quit my job, because it was making me so miserable I couldn't take it any more. I don't have a new one yet, nor do I intend to get any soon. I want to give myself some time before I come back to working, since I am very tired and I need to figure out where my life is going (I simply cannot do it with 40 hours a week condemned to the pit of a job that I hate).
I have been to Switzerland, where I spent 9 fab days sightseeing in the western part of the country. Still cannot bring myself to edit/upload any photos from it, it just hurts to go through them - I miss the country so much! I would love to live there some day.
I have also been to Poland (Wrocław, to be precise) for 2 days to run workshops on Breton dances. We've had a great time and attracted some crowd.
As you may have noticed from the photos, I have adopted another cat, a pal for Gryzelda. Her name is Maggie May, she's about 4 years old. She is very playful and has an adorable face. Sadly, both cats have been very sick. Gryzelda has been diagnosed with herpesvirus (FHV) a while ago, had 2 operations on her left eye. As a result she has blurry vision and has to rely on her right eye. Which, btw, started showing some ulcers too. We put her through a long course of medication and pray. Maggie May, on the other hand, has been diagnosed positive for FIV AKA feline AIDS. Fortunately, she is OK and doesn't have any worrying symptoms, except for some sort of mild allergic reaction once in a while. Gryzelda proved negative for FIV, so I hope she is somehow immune. I still don't know what to do about it. The cats don't get along that well yet, but Gryzelda seems happier and not bored any more. The rest is up to Feliway and time.
From other news, I have been slacking off with my photoblog, but I have an instagram account! Feel free to follow me: instagram.com/swiinka. Yet another shocking change: I took up cycling! Dublin Bikes has expanded and now I have some stations in my neighbourhood, so I got my annual membership and use it extensively. It is pleasant, it is kinda free (first 30 minutes of letting is free, which is enough to cater for my needs, and the membership fee is eu 20 per year, which is peanuts) and it's much more reliable than bloody Dublin bus.
Last but not least: I took up gaming too! I have never been into this stuff, but fell in love with Portal and have gone through both last autumn, then I moved on to some indie games (Samorost, Machinarium, Botanicula). Recently I've done all parts of Bioshock series and Reach for The Sun, now got down to some other games. I also have 2 parts of Elder Scrolls series, but by far they didn't catch my interest.
So much about me. Since I have more time on my hands now, I shall try to catch up with my devwatch, but it's over 10k messages so not sure if I ever manage. I will post some new jewellery and photos from my trips soon!
